About Me

Photographer Nancy Krueger is a native of Madison, Wisconsin where she developed a love of photography, mostly of landscape and nature, integrating that hobby with study of cultural and urban geography at the University of Minnesota.

After completing her coursework in Minneapolis, she made a cultural migration of her own to Austin, Texas, where she pursued a career in employee benefits and financial planning before moving into telecommunications during Austin’s high tech boom of the 1990’s.

The telecommunications industry allowed Nancy opportunities to grow her interests in life outside of the United States, by sending her to Mexico and Central America.  It wasn’t long before travel took her further south of the border, to Argentina, and Uruguay.  In a global organization, she has been able to discuss regionalism, migration, and natural landforms with multiple colleagues in Asia, the Pacific and Latin America, and her travel list lengthens daily.

Back at home, Nancy works exclusively with her digital SLR, having retired her film SLR in 2004.   Her main interests are in documentary portraiture as well as using her work to interpret cultural norms and differences both within and outside of our nation’s boundaries.

Nancy is a 5 year veteran photographer of the Heart Gallery of Central Texas, as well as a member of the Texas Documentary Photographers.  Her work has been exhibited through venues of both organizations, as well as the Austin Visual Arts Association.  She has also attended numerous workshops and location courses through the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, based out of Missoula, Montana.
